LLTF became the CashBall season 3 champions on Sunday beating asteroiders in two games and I rode on the coattails to nab my first Subspace title.
We dominated in game 1. Both teams had possession and moved the ball well, but our defense around our goal was strong, while we seemed to be able to score on asteroiders at will. We held the lead throughout match, finally taking it 10-4. Just to show you how lopsided it was I played the last five minutes. I think the reason that we got such a big win was that half of asteroiders roster only showed up two minutes before the match as they were involved in the darkslayers vs Tyranny match being played in Pro.
I think that was bared out with how game 2 went. Asteroiders were much more competitive and lead through most of it. They were much better offensively and in the last few minutes lead 5-2 and looked good to tie the finals up. But then we got on a run. Desperado scored, we got the ball at the spawn, then Benji scored to make it 5-4. We got the ball at the spawn again and moved the ball to their goal and desperado scored in the last 10 seconds to tie it at 5-5.
The run continued as we got the ball again on the spawn. The game went into overtime with us on offense and we never lost possession again. We moved the ball well and had several open shots and slide opportunities, but the asteroiders D held.
The winning goal eventually came from Corrupt Cop. Asteroiders had strong D outside the goal, but we had killed their goalies. CC saw this and took an outrageous shot that bounced around inside the goal before going in. Here's all the links from the games.
