Easiest game for us in a long time so not much of a match report. We started ampheres (wb), bongman (weasel), Leaky (wb) and me (wb) with Jim Morrison (weasel) as our sub. Things started bad for SF. Despite agreeing to a delay of over 20 minutes they could only show three to the game. Those were BlackNike (wb), ElementalForces (wb, weasel) and MRBots (wb, terr).
Our plan was pretty simple. Hit them hard at the start so not to give them a chance early and look to leave MRBots and his evil lag to last. I was surprised they played us straight up to be honest. I was expecting DAW to get a lanc turret going driven by MrBots in a mondo-laggy jav. But that didn't happen.
Instead we just knocked them out one by one. BN first, then EF and finally MRBots. Leaky was the MVP, stealing all my kills to go 7-0, getting all three knockouts and forcing two reps. Amps got the other two kills and bong was the set up guy getting 6 assists and 6 forced reps.
We are now three games off the last playoff spot with 5 divisional games and 3 seeding rounds left to play. We're right back in the mix now. Next week we face a much more difficult prospect as we take on StarFire Elite. Coincidently the last time Vic won 12-0 was against SFE in AML Season 8 round 6. Mikhal went 8-0 in that game which is still the best single game record for a Vic player. Damn, that's two nice things I've said about DeathKnight on here recently, I'm slipping.

It's about time. The match was the messiest we've played all season, which was probably due to the fact we only managed one warm up 4v4 game before the match, but right now I'll take a win any way I can get it.
We went with Leaky (wb) , ampheres (wb), Savman (wb) and Shadowseeker (weasel) as our starters and for the first time we didn't use any subs (another reason why we won?). Secret's starters were Trash-killer (lev), cose (weasel), Tursiops (jav) and Nerve Impulse (wb) and whirl (wb) was their only sub.
We started badly. After only 54 seconds Sav got caught out by trash-killer's lobbed L3 bombs and repped too late. But we got the next 3 kills for a 3-1 lead after 8 minutes. Then Secret started having problems. Cose, who was on his last life, lagged out and at that time they only had Who? in spec who was too laggy to get in. So for the next 5 minutes it was 4v3 in our advantage. We couldn't get any more kills though as secret ran from us well. Whirl eventaully turned up to sub cose and I made a mistake in strategy that almost cost us the game.
Whirl was dropping off to save himself which made it effectively 4v3 to us, but I was targeting Whirl instead of leaving him alone. This got us split up and we lost our teamwork for a while. It also allowed Secret to get some kills on us. They tied the score at 3-3. We pulled away, but they came back again to tie it up at 6-6.
Although the scores were tied we looked the much stronger team. Secret had two slots on their last life and were well down on the special count. We had got our teamwork back and were pushing them all over the map. The next two kills decided the game. Savman knocked out Whirl, then Leaky killed Tursiops to make it 8-6 and 4v3. Secret did try and make a come back and trapped amps against a wall to knock her out, but Leaky got our second knockout, this one on trash-killer, to make the score 9-7 and 3v2 with only a minute left on the clock.
We ran out the clock to get our first regular season win of the season. Leaky was the MVP, going 4-1 with 1 knockout, 1 assist and 6 forced reps. After so many game where we have started well, but lost our teamwork it was nice to see us start well and then carry that through the for the full 45 minutes.

I found a bunch of logs on our squad-only yahoo groups site so I've just cleaned them up and uploaded them all to the log bank.

We played Llamasery last night and although we lost again we came out of the match with a lot more positives that we can take into the second (easier) half of our divisional schedule.
We started ampheres, Shadowseeker, Savman and myself with bongman subbing in. Llamas starting four was Crunchy, former (and one of the original alpha) Vic member R.O.C.K., morphine and Suppoko who also was on Vic for our short-lived Hockey Zone squad. Their one sub was Preceptor. With myself being on Blitzed for a short time with morph as my cap and all the rest of the Llamas/bltized/Vic/Alpha links it was always going to be a fun game, although I'm now under strict orders from my squad to always use ?nopubchat when I play =(
The game started as expected with llamas using their now familiar run and gun tactics. We changed our style for this game. Rather than having the targets called from spec then our aggressive pilots leading us to them, we played a lob and push style. Hitting llamas with everything we had, pushing them back, burning their specials and looking to force out a target to hit. This seemed to suit not only the players in the game but also the spec freq too.
The match itself was incredibly tight. Both teams had good teamwork and we each had stages where we'd push the other team back. The score difference was never more than two kills for either team the whole game, but we were mostly ahead early after making the first two kills in the match (Supp by amps, then Crunchy by Sav). Two kills is a winning score and as I was expecting this game to be a low scoring affair going the full 45 minutes I had made that our target in pre-game. Get that two kill advantage and then defend it. It might not of been a fun game to spec, but it was a fun game to play in.
The first key point in the game came at the 37 minute mark where there was 4 kills in 10 seconds, 2 on each team, which took the score from 3-2 us to 5-4 us and also put two of llamas' slots on their last life. From that point on things looked good for us. 8 minutes left, two slots playing defensively and us needing 1 kill for a winning score and the game.
If you've been following Vic this season you already know it wouldn't last. Llamas got a good kill on Savman by Rock to tie it up at 5-5 with four minutes left in regulation. So the next kill on either team wins it. Now if I was in spec I would of said this:
'We don't want to give them any chance to come back. We have one llama on 0 specials and two llamas on their last life. We are the stronger squad. If we kill them in the last four minutes (6-5 is a winning score remember) they will go on a mad rocketing spree to try and tie it up. So play off, lob and look to take it into OT where our one kill ends the game right there with no come back.'
Except I wasn't in spec, I was playing and I wasn't thinking. with two minutes to go I see perceptor trapped against the wall. He has no specials, I have no reps, but I have rockets, I have the skill, I have the power. This is my moment to break the losing streak, to be the hero, get the winning kill and get carried off the field on the shoulders of my adoring squaddies. All this was going through my mind as I hit the rocket and aimed my warbird for glory.
Problem is I'm not as good as I think I am. When I'm thinking I know this, but right then my brain had decided to go and watch MTV and leave me on my own. Also, I lag. I drop a lot of damage I think I deal out. I hit Perceptor with everything I had, he hit me back with everything he had. Turns out he had a lot more =(
I die and llamas lead 6-5 with 107 seconds left. Now it's us who are mad rocketing to tie it up. Llamas are far too smart to get caught out like that and ran out the clock. Also they picked up another kill on Sav to put him out and a final score of 7-5. The MVP was morphine who went 3-0 with 1 assist and 7 forced reps. Our best player was Savman, who with two games under his belt is starting to get the old form back. He went 3-3 with 3 forced reps. Special recognition also goes to amps who managed to rack up 105,404 damage dealt. Scary numbers.
Yes we lost, again. But there is good news here. Our teamwork and playing style is starting to really gel and after mixing up strategies through the reg season we're starting to find what works for us and how to play the rest of the season. Against a team that doesn't play like llamas I think we'll rip them to shreds. More good news is that our front-loaded schedule is starting to even out, we only have one top ranked squad (SFE) to face. The other other good news is that I'll never do what I did yesterday again, that's if I ever let myself play again and right now I'm taking a long hard look at myself.
Something else we've done which we decided to do at the start of the game was go back to the old banners. the squad numbers are obviously a jinx. So from now onwards it's back to the vicura banner. And if that doesn't work there's always the flaming V....
Next game is Secret. Right now I'm scheduling with who? which, as Secret likes very early times, might get a little dodgy. Still it's all good practice for the Ballistics match when WORDS and myself hook up for the first time in 3 years (see the logs section). Finally some links from the game:

Shadow have been replaced by ShitFuck from this round onwards. Although the SF roster has all come from BlackNike it's still nice to see them back playing league. I think AML Season 7 was the last time they played 4v4.

I've also opened a new database on the groups site for all season 11 player stats. This will include regular season, pre-season and playoff games (if we play any). I've also added the two AML Cup games we played in the off-season. When the season is over I'll add these to the career stats database.

Going into this game I was looking to make some changes after starting the season 0-3 (our worst start in any league Vic have played). First of all I decided to bench myself so I could run the game from spec and give us some direction which I felt we've lacked while I was playing. Also I decided to mix up the starting line and added two veteran players who had yet to play this season. Our Starting line was ampheres, bongman, Editor and Savman with Shadowseeker subbing in. Narchs went with wasteofammo (aka former Vic player Wasty), nismo, G_BoNe and Shadowslayer.
The game started well for us. After ten minutes the score was tied at 1-1 with nismo killing bong while G_BoNe was TK'd. We were playing well together and pushing narchs back, they were saved by a bit of fortuitous lag that kept us from getting more kills. Then it went wrong. The next 4 kills were all on us and Sav was forced to sub after two deaths. But unlike the last couple of games we managed to come back. We pulled it back to 5-4 and were looking strong.
At the 27 minute mark Wasty killed Shadowseeker to give narchs a 2 kill lead and a 4v3 advantage. We didn't give up though and were targeting G_BoNe who was on his last life. But at the 31 minute mark narchs got two kills. At 8-4 we had to go on the all out attack to try and get back and narchs soaked it up to take the game 12-4. The MVP went to nismo who went 3-0 with 1 knockout, 3 assists and 5 forced reps. Our best player was Editor who went 2-3 with 1 assist and 2 forced reps.
We are improving as a squad, but we're still losing games against teams we should be beating easily. I think our problems are practice. We rarely practice together as a squad during the week and it shows. This is our first season back though and we will get better through the season. Next up is fellow Alpha squad Llamasery. I've started scheduling with Crunchy and will post here when I have a time confirmed. Finally here's the links from yesterdays games:

Done some work on the log bank today. I've changed the index page to match the new template and I've also added a second bank which gives me 30megs of space to fill up with stats of my chokes and logs of people laughing at me =(. With only 3.5megs used so far that should keep us going for a while. Link is to the right.
Also, I've started writing a new squad history. Once that's finished I'll clean up all the old guides and link to all of them on the about us page.

I've just finished cleaning up the archives to match the new template, I've added links to them on the right hand side. Due to my re-format I lost all the posts from the first half of August. The only major thing that was lost was a match report of our first pre-season game against 7rom.
Next up is the playing guides. The squad history page was also a casualty of the re-format as for some reason it wasn't hosted on the geocities site, so I'm going to have to re-write it. Should all be done in the next 3-4 days.

I've put in a new template on the squad forums to match this site. It's not quite finished yet, I've had to change a lot of the graphics back to their default as they didn't fit and I'm probably going to have to make some new buttons myself.
