For the second straight week the Dueling League schedule has not been posted before the day of the round. So I've taken what times have been confirmed on the scheduling thread. So here's how the round looks right now:
Fantasy Island vs Dissent n/a
Unit vs Secret @ 1pm
BALLISTICS vs ONE @ 4pm
Apathos vs Elite n/a
DoubleZero vs ElementalForces @ 3pm
Katana vs Quake @ 3pm
Speechless vs Hattrick.org @ 3pm
All times are in EST. Matches will be played today in ?go 2v2 in SSCX Chaos/League SVS. For more details you can check out the Dueling League website. I'm sure the full schedule will be posted on there before the games start.
Our 2v2 game against ElementalForces will be played at 3pm EST tomorrow. Very few other times have been confirmed yet so I probably won't be able to post a full schedule list before the round starts but I will do my best to get one up either this evening or tomorrow morning.
Our pre-season round 2 game in Dueling League is against ElementalForces. I've added the stats for the round 1 game which you can find here.
Yesterday's Gladiator League final was full of controversy. MupsiLurri took game 1 6-1 but Dissent were not pleased with the lag of Mup's player sikari (AKA sika from B.I.A.). This ended up with the two team's captains along with the League sysop Portal Realm stuck on a private freq together for over half an hour arguing it out. The upshot was that sikari didn't play in game 2 which Dissent won 4-3 in OT. Due to the time taken between the two games that was it. The final will continue next Sunday at 3pm EST. The first team to win three games will take the title. Don't miss it, this is turning into a real grudge match.
We lost our first pre-season Dueling League match today in three games. Dissent won game 1, we came back and won game 2, but Dissent cleared the box to win game 3 and the match. Snail and Kyre played all three games. I had a lot of lag problems so I missed the first game and most of game 2. I also have an incomplete game log so I can't add the stats yet. I will have a log soon to do this though. I was able to take a screenshot to mark our first 2v2 game and you can find it by clicking the link on the nav bar.
Turns out I did have time to post today so I've updated yesterday's post with all the times for today's 2v2 games.
Season 4 of Gladiator League will come to a climax this Sunday with the final. MupsiLurri, last season's runners up, will face Dissent, the two-time AML champions. These have been the best two squads all through this season sharing the best regular season record of 10-1, although Mups held a slight advantage by beating Dissent by 2 games to 1 in their regular season meeting. But that will count for nothing in the best of 5 games final. You can see all the action starting at 3pm EST this Sunday in ?go gladiator in SSCX Chaos/League SVS.
Tomorrow sees round 1 of Dueling League pre-season start. Not all the times have been confirmed yet but I won't have another chance to post them on here before the round starts so here's how things look so far:
Speechless vs Secret @ 3pm
Potshots vs ONE @ 5pm
WWF vs ElementalForces @ 4pm
Apathos vs Katana @ 4pm
DoubleZero vs Dissent @ 4pm
Unit vs Quake @ 2pm
Fantasy Island vs Elite @ 2pm
All match times are in EST and will be played in ?go 2v2a or ?go 2v2b in SSCX Chaos/League SVS. For more info check out the Dueling League website and to check on the scheduling for the games with unconfirmed times go to the 2v2 forum.
Our first pre-season game in Dueling League will be this Saturday against Dissent at 4pm EST. I'll post all the matches in the round here when all the times have been confirmed. Dissent are going to have a busy weekend. As well as 2v2 and their IML game they also have the Gladiator League final to play after beating B.I.A. 2-1 in the semis. They will face MupsiLurri who made their second straight final after knocking out lampaat 2-0 in the other all-Finnish semi.
Last Sunday's WZL final ended in dramatic fashion. Early in the game ReDs held 7 flags while Loyalty defended 1. STRiKER then attacked ReDs and took their base. But they made a huge mistake in letting only one pilot (Kurt) pick up all 7 flags. This allowed Loyalty to thor the flag room, kill Kurt and take the flags. They then defended their base for a flag win in only 25 minutes to take their second win in the series and the season 10 title. Congratulations to them.
Season 5 of Premier League starts today with pre-season games for all three leagues. You can find a full schedule of games at the Premier League website . Despite my ban I've decided to keep doing predictions for AML. I've done a review of all the squads going into pre-season. As WarRoom and SS Impact are no more I've decided to host them here. To read the review click here.
Just a reminder about the Warzone League finals tomorrow. After last Sundays matches STRiKER and Loyalty have won one game each and need to win one more for their first WZL title (although Loyalty is basically the same squad as Gust, who won the title in season 4), while ReDs need to win both games to take it. Game 3 will start at 2pm EST and if needed game 4 will start at 4pm EST. With so many close and exciting games that there's been in the playoffs this season it wouldn't surprise me if the final went down to the last minute of the last game. You can follow all the action in ?go league in SSCX Warzone/ASWZ CTF.
I've updated the rosters page. Napalm Sunrise and Kyre have joined and will play 2v2 for us. Welcome to the squad.
The starting date for the first round of pre-season in Dueling League is now January 24th. This gives us an extra couple of weeks to practice and do some more recruiting. In yesterday's WZL final game 1 was won by Loyalty and game 2 by STRiKER. The final will continue next Sunday with game 3 at 2pm EST and if needed game 4 at 4pm EST. Loyalty and STRiKER need just one more win to become champions while ReDs need to win both games.
If you've be keeping up with general Subspace news you will know that aswz merged with Warzone a few days ago. Now Turf Arizona has also merged to give SVS it's second 'super zone' along with Chaos/League. The new zone is now called SSCX Warzone/ASWZ CTF and you can find Turf Arizona in ?go turf. Refresh your zones now!
If you've been keeping up with the news here you'd be wondering where all the stuff about the start of Dueling League is. It was supposed to start this weekend, but there's no news on the website and there's no rounds or tables up on ScoreMaster yet. I'll post again when I have more news on what's going on and when pre-season starts.
In other news the Warzone League final starts today. Loyalty, STRiKER and ReDS will battle it out for the title. Hopefully the finals will be as exciting as the semi final round was last weekend which saw some great games and the shock elimination of Opulence who were going for their third straight league title and their sixth overall. Game 1 starts at 2pm EST and game 2 is at 4pm EST. The first squad to win two games takes the title. If a third or fourth game is needed they will be played next Sunday. Check out all the action in ?go league in Warzone.
I've been doing some work on the website. I've added some banner links to the top of this page. I want to have a link to every SVS zone up there so I still need to get banners for WZ, Gladiator League and Dueling Arizona. Also I've now got two new links at the bottom of every page. The subspace banner takes you to the new Subspace/Continuum website which promotes SVS zones to new players (or as they now call them SSS zones, dunno if I can get used to that). The download subspace banner has also changed and it will now download a version of Continuum where only SVS zones are on the zones list when you first open the client. I think it's a good idea. Any scheme to get more people to play subspace and steer them towards SVS zones has to be a good thing.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years holiday. Things have been pretty quiet on the ss front. We lost our final Gladiator League match by no-show. I'm now getting us ready for Duelng league which is still on track to start on the 11th. I've also kicked off a recruiting campaign to try and get us a deeper and more active roster which had been a problem for us in the second half of Gladiator League. Although as dueling league is 2v2 we should have less problems with low numbers I'd still like us to be a much more active squad.
