We just beat StarFire Academy 12-6 took put us #8 on the seedings ladder and a playoff spot if we win next weekend. Jeru was the MVP. I'll try and get a full match report up tomorrow.

AML Round-up

Been quiet on the VicBlog as of late. A combination of not much happening in AML and me not having much time to play ss recently. A quick update of what's been going on. First of all the links from our last two regular season games. The OT loss to narchs:

So that gave us a final record of 3-4 and the #10 spot on the seeding ladder for the two seeding round games. But then it emerged that Entertainment, who was banned last season for double-squadding on DAMN_Yankees, has done it again. He was found to have been playing under an alias for CRIPS while still under a ban after his adventures last season. You can read more about this on the AML forums here. So with CRIPS out of the playoff picture we were bumped up to #9 on the ladder, just one spot out of the playoff places. So we win our two seeding games then we're in.

Our first game is this Sunday at 5pm EST against StarFire Academy, a squad we easily beat in the pre-season. I'll post the full round as soon as all the games have been scheduled.

We Lost

Anarchists beat us 4-3 this evening. The game finished 3-3 and went into overtime where Jeru was killed. It was a very tight and close game all the way through. This result means we have to beat CHAOS*ZONE in our last regular season game then win both seeding rounds to make the playoffs.

Appeal Denied

Hed has just posted the result of our appeal of the Hitlist game. It was denied. You can read the appeal in full, plus feedback from it, on the Premier League forums here.

This now places even more importance on today's game against Anarchists. Due to the seeding rounds it's not a playoff decider, but it does mean the difference of either going into the seeding rounds defending a playoff seed or having to win games to get into the playoff spots.

Just to remind you the game is at 5pm EST, that's 2.5 hours from now.

AML Round 5, Victimise 7-6 Wretcheds

We won our second game of the season on Sunday, beating Wretcheds 7-6 to put us back in the playoff picture. We used the same starting line as last week, although with a slightly different ship selection. They were Nick (weasel) Asinine (warbird), Lex (Warbird) and stool (warbird). Jeru (warbird) was our only sub. Wretcheds started Pretender (warbird, terrier), Forklift truck (terrier, warbird), deleterious (weasel) and Maeniel (warbird, weasel). Their only sub was psychobunny (warbird).

The game started out as expected; very slowly. Wretcheds are a very passive team and hard to break down. The opening minutes of the game were all about map position. Wretcheds were looking to take us into boxes and corners of the map so they could hide and lob, as well as use Forklift's terrier bullets off walls. Meanwhile we were looking to take the game to the centre of the map where there's very little obstacles so we could use our more aggressive style to push them back, burn them of specials and make the kills.

For the first twenty five minutes this is how the game was played. The score was 3-2 in Wretcheds favour, but both our kills were on the same slot which meant that psychobunny was playing with one life. This made Wretcheds even more passive, with psychobunny playing deep behind his three team-mates.

The problem with playing like that was that when we finally caught up with him he would be isolated. Which is exactly what happened at the 27 minute mark when Jeru (who had subbed in for stool two minutes earlier) took him out with an assist from Nick.

The game was effectively over from that point as Wretcheds just don't have the aggressive players to come back from 3v4 down. They continued to play run and gun and we were happy to wait until we got them in the centre of the map to open up on them. With 7 minutes to go we were 7-4 up and cruising to a win. This is where Wretcheds decided to abandon their passive style and rocket for kills. But it was too late and we ran out the clock. Wretcheds did get two kills to make it 7-6 with three minutes to go, but that just gave us more reps to keep them away and that was the final score.

The match MVP was Jeru, who went 3-0 with 1 KO and 1 forced rep. Credit should also go to Nick Rivers who went 2-2, with 3 assists and an awesome 10 forced reps. Here's all the stats and stuff from the match:

Next up is Anarchists. If we beat them we will go into the seeding rounds in the top eight and in a playoff spot. Just a reminder that the game has already been scheduled and we will be played next Sunday at 5pm EST (10pm GMT).

AML Round 6 Time Confirmed

We're playing Anarchists on Sunday at 5pm EST (10pm GMT). This is a big game for us. If we win here then we move up into fourth place in the division, which puts us in the playoff spots for the first time this season.

I'll post the match report from last Sunday later today.

Squad History

Right now I'm visiting my parents. I was checking through the files I have on my Dad's PC and I found an early draft of the squad history page that I lost, so I put it up. You can find it by going to the about us section, the link is in the menu to the left.

It only covers the early days of the squad and our first AML Season. I will try and finish it some time this week.

We Won

We beat Wretcheds today in a tight one 7-6. We had the lead through most of the game, but it was always close and very nearly ended up going to OT. Jeru nabbed the MVP, subbing in to go 3-0.
